My First Purchase
The option to decide what you need on a daily basis is incredibly important, something many of us take for granted. With the help of Mastercard technology, and Mercy Corpsโ aid network, refugees were given back the power of choice. We brought this story to life in a short documentary about a refugee family living in Greece. We followed Howaida as she and her family received their first card and made their first purchase.
Taking the conversation a step further, we curated an event at Washington University. Following a screening of the film, we hosted a live-streamed musical performance, where musicians in Kara Tepe refugee camp in Greece, and ex-refugees on stage at Washington University were able to play together.
We supported the film and performance with an immersive exhibit highlighting some of the first purchases refugees made with their aid card.
